- must (povinnosť) -> had to: "I must finish this." -> He said he had to finish it.
- will -> would: už spomenuté.
- should/ought to/might/could -> často zostávajú rovnaké alebo sa meniť nemusia.
Poznámka k must: ak ide o dedukciu (He must be tired = musieť) často zostáva must, lebo nemá jednoduchú minulú formu: "She must be at home," he said. -> He said she must be at home. Ak ide o povinnosť, použijeme had to: "I must go" -> He said he had to go.
- say: Subject + say (that) + clause
- tell: Subject + tell + object + (that) + clause
- ask: Subject + ask + object + if/whether + clause
Všimnite si: u slovesa say sa objekt často vynecháva; tell vyžaduje objekt (tell someone).
Yes/No otázky
- Direct: "Do you like coffee?" -> She asked, "Do you like coffee?"
Reported: She asked if I liked coffee. (NOT: She asked if do I like coffee.)
Preklad: Spýtala sa, či mám rád kávu.

Polite requests phr. ako otázky

Reported (question form): He asked if I could open the window.
Reported (request form): He asked me to open the window.
- Direct: "Close the door!" -> He told me to close the door.
- Direct: "Don't be late!" -> He told us not to be late.
Preklad: Povedal nám, aby sme neprišli neskoro.

- these -> those
- here -> there

- Direct: "These are my keys," he said.
Reported: He said those were his keys.
Ak niekto hovorí "I will help you" priamo osobe A, tá osoba pri hlásení použi "he said he would help me" (ak A hlási), ale iný pozorovateľ použije "he said he would help her".
- First conditional (realná budúcnosť): posun -> present -> past, will -> would.
- Second conditional (nereálna prítomnosť): často zostáva rovnaká, lebo jeden stupeň už vyjadruje nereálnosť.
Direct: "If I were rich, I would travel more."
Reported: He said that if he were rich, he would travel more. (alebo He said he would travel more if he were rich.)

- povinnosť: "I must go" -> He said he had to go.
- dedukcia (epistemic): "She must be at home" -> He said she must be at home. (často zostáva must)
- have to -> had to
- should / ought to -> často bez zmeny
Doplňujúci príklad k must (nuansa):
- Direct (povinnosť): "I must finish this report." -> Reported: He said he had to finish the report.
- Direct (dedukcia): "She must be angry." -> Reported: He said she must be angry. (alebo He thought she must be angry.)
- Direct: "They arrested me yesterday," he said.
- Direct (príklad): John said, "Mary told me, 'I will finish the work tomorrow.'"
- Reporting verb v prítomnom čase (says, says that, is saying): neposúvame časy.
- Ak výrok zostáva pravdivý (fakty, univerzálne pravdy): môžeme vynechať posun časov.
Direct: "The Earth orbits the Sun," he said.
Reported: He said the Earth orbits the Sun. (alebo He said the Earth orbited the Sun.)
Direct: "I am allergic to nuts," she said.
Reported: She said she is allergic to nuts. (ak to stále platí)
- Nezmeniť zámená: Direct: "I will help you," he said. Nesprávne: He said I will help you. Správne: He said he would help me.
- Nie zmeniť now -> then, here -> there, today -> that day atď.
- Použiť otázkový slovosled v nepriamej otázke: Nesprávne: He asked where did I live. Správne: He asked where I lived.
- Zabudnúť na to-infinitív pri prikazoch/žiadosťach: "Close the door!" -> Správne: He told me to close the door. Nesprávne: He told me that I close the door.
- Zameniť say a tell: say často bez objektu, tell vyžaduje objekt.
- "I live in Prague" -> He said he lived in Prague. (present -> past)
- "I have lost my keys" -> She said she had lost her keys. (present perfect -> past perfect)
- "I will be late" -> He said he would be late. (will -> would)
- "Can you help me?" -> She asked if I could help her. / She asked me to help her.
- "Don't smoke!" -> He told him not to smoke.
- "I must leave now" (povinnosť) -> She said she had to leave then.
- Priama reč (Direct speech): citovanie slov hovoriaceho s úvodzovkami.
- Nepriama reč (Reported/Indirect speech): parafrázovanie slov bez úvodzoviek, často s úpravou časov a zámen.
- Reporting verb (hlásacie sloveso): sloveso, ktoré uvádza nepriame hlásenie (say, tell, ask, explain, promise ...).
- Backshifting (posun časov): posun časov (present -> past, past -> past perfect) pri hlásení v minulom čase.
- Deiktické výrazy: slová odkazujúce na miesto/čas (here/there, now/then), ktoré sa pri hlásení menia.
- Ak je reporting verb v minulom čase, zväčša posuňte čas slovesa v hlásenej vete (backshift).
- Zmente zámená a deiktické výrazy podľa perspektívy osoby, ktorá hlási.
- Otázky zmeňte na oznamovaciu vetu (yes/no -> if/whether; wh- ponechajte) a používajte statement word order.
- Príkazy a žiadosti často preveďte na to-infinitív (told/asked + object + to-infinitive).
- Niektoré výnimky: reporting verb v prítomnom čase, všeobecné pravdy, prípady, kde je pôvodný výrok stále pravdivý.
Ak chcete, môžem pripraviť stručné zhrnutie vo forme tabuľky (mapping časov), alebo poslať viac príkladov z konkrétnej oblasti (otázky, právnický štýl, žiadosti), podľa toho, čo potrebujete precvičiť.
