"more" un "most" lietošana salīdzināšanā (garas īpašības, neregulāras formas)
A2Kad lieto 'more' un 'most'?
- Salīdzināmā forma: more + īpašības vārds + than
- English: "This book is more interesting than that one." — Latviski: "Šī grāmata ir interesantāka nekā tā."
- Vissalīdzināmā forma: the most + īpašības vārds (+ in/of)
- English: "This is the most interesting book I have read." — Latviski: "Šī ir vissinteresantākā grāmata, ko esmu lasījis." (bieži: "visinteresantākā")
Kā veidot salīdzināmās un vissalīdzināmās formas ar 'more' un 'most' (garas īpašības)?
- Parasti īpašības vārdi ar trīs vai vairāk zilbēm veido salīdzinājumu ar "more" un superlātīvu ar "the most".
- Forma: more + adjective / the most + adjective
- Piemēri:
- English: beautiful → more beautiful → the most beautiful
- "This painting is beautiful." — "Šī glezna ir skaista."
- "This painting is more beautiful than that one." — "Šī glezna ir skaistāka nekā tā."
- "This is the most beautiful painting in the gallery." — "Šī ir vis skaistākā glezna galerijā." (biežāk: "galerijas skaistākā glezna")
- English: interesting → more interesting → the most interesting
- "That movie is interesting." — "Tas filma ir interesanta."
- "That movie is more interesting than the documentary." — "Šī filma ir interesantāka nekā dokumentālā."
- "It was the most interesting part of the course." — "Tas bija kursa vissinteresantākais posms."
- English: expensive → more expensive → the most expensive
- "This watch is expensive." — "Šis pulkstenis ir dārgs."
- "This watch is more expensive than mine." — "Šis pulkstenis ir dārgāks nekā mans."
- "It is the most expensive item in the shop." — "Tas ir veikala dārgākais priekšmets."
- Īpašības vārdi ar sufiksiem -ful, -less, -able, -ible, -ous, -ing, -ed, -ive u.c. parasti lieto "more/most":
- comfortable → more comfortable → the most comfortable
- "This sofa is more comfortable than the chair." — "Šis dīvāns ir ērtāks nekā krēsls."
- difficult → more difficult → the most difficult
- "Math is more difficult than history for me." — "Man matemātika ir grūtāka nekā vēsture."
- reliable → more reliable → the most reliable
- "This car is more reliable than the old one." — "Šis auto ir uzticamāks nekā vecais."
- interesting → more interesting → the most interesting (skat. iepriekš)
Kad divzilbju īpašības lietot '-er/-est' un kad 'more/most'?
- Divzilbju īpašības var rīkoties dažādi. Drošā pieeja: ja neesi pārliecināts, izmanto "more/most" — tā nekļūdīsies. Tomēr pastāv tendenču kopums:
- Atsevišķi divzilbju vārdi parasti lieto -er/-est, īpaši tie, kas beidzas ar -y, -er, -ow, -le.
- happy → happier → the happiest
- "She is happy." — "Viņa ir laimīga."
- "She is happier now." — "Viņa tagad ir laimīgāka."
- narrow → narrower → the narrowest
- "The road is narrow." — "Ceļš ir šaurs."
- "This road is narrower than the main one." — "Šis ceļš ir šaurāks nekā galvenais."
- gentle → gentler → the gentlest
- Dažas divzilbju īpašības biežāk izmanto "more/most": pleasant → more pleasant / most pleasant (lai gan "pleasanter" reizēm sastopams).
- Dažiem vārdiem abi varianti ir pieņemami, taču nozīma vai reģistrs var atšķirties (formālāks: more; ikdienas vai īsāks: -er).
- simple → simpler / more simple ("simpler" biežāk)
- clever → cleverer / more clever (abi lietojami; "cleverer" biežāk ikdienā)
- Ja vārds beidzas ar -y: maini y → i + -er/-est (happy → happier → happiest).
- Ja vārds ir skaidri trīs vai vairāk zilbes: izmanto "more/most" (drošā izvēle).
- Ja neesi pārliecināts, droši izvēlies "more/most" — tas ir pareizi un skaidri.
Kā rīkoties ar neregulārām formām (irregular forms)?
Daži angļu īpašības vārdi veido salīdzināmās un vissalīdzināmās formas neregulāri — tie neaizņem "-er/-est", un nezaprotami nav "more/most".
- good → better → the best
- "She is good at chess." — "Viņa prot labi šahu."
- "She is better at chess than her brother." — "Viņa ir labāka šahā nekā viņas brālis."
- "She is the best player in the club." — "Viņa ir labākā spēlētāja klubā."
- bad → worse → the worst
- "The weather is bad." — "Laika apstākļi ir slikti."
- "The weather today is worse than yesterday." — "Šodien laiks ir sliktāks nekā vakar."
- "That was the worst day of my trip." — "Tas bija vissliktākais ceļojuma diena."
- far → farther / further → the farthest / the furthest
- Fiziskai distancei bieži izmanto 'farther'; figuratīvai vai abstraktai 'further' var būt labāks. Abas formas bieži ir apmaināmas.
- "My house is farther from the station than yours." — "Mans māja ir tālāk no stacijas nekā tava."
- "We need to discuss this further." — "Mums jāapspriež tas tālāk."
- little → less → the least (kad runa par daudzumu)
- "I have little time." — "Man ir maz laika."
- "I have less time than you." — "Man ir mazāk laika nekā tev."
- "She has the least free time of all." — "Viņai no visiem ir vismazāk brīvā laika."
- many / much → more → the most (kvantitātes vārdi)
- "I have many books." / "I have much work." — "Man ir daudz grāmatu." / "Man ir daudz darba."
- "I have more books than she does." — "Man ir vairāk grāmatu nekā viņai."
- "He has the most experience in the team." — "Viņam komandā ir visvairāk pieredzes."
- old → older / elder → the oldest / the eldest
- "older" ir parasts salīdzinājums vispārējai atšķirībai vecumā.
- "My father is older than my mother." — "Mans tēvs ir vecāks nekā mana māte."
- "elder/eldest" parasti saistās ar ģimenes kārtību (brālis/māsa utt.).
- "She is my elder sister." — "Viņa ir mana vecākā māsa."
- "He is the eldest of the three children." — "Viņš ir vecākais no trim bērniem."
- well (adverbs) → better → the best
- Kad runājam par darbības veidu (adverbu) 'well', salīdzinājums ir 'better'.
- "She sings well." — "Viņa dzied labi."
- "She sings better than him." — "Viņa dzied labāk nekā viņš."
- "She sings the best in the choir." — "Viņa dzied vislabāk koristē."
Kā pareizi lietot 'more'/'most' teikumos?
- Salīdzinājumam starp divām lietām izmanto "than":
- "My phone is more expensive than yours." — "Mans telefons ir dārgāks nekā tavs."
- "She is more experienced than him." — "Viņai ir vairāk pieredzes nekā viņam." (labāk: "Viņa ir pieredzējušāka nekā viņš.")
- "the most" bieži pavada grupu ar 'in' vai 'of':
- "He is the most popular student in the class." — "Viņš ir populārākais skolēns klasē."
- "She has the most friends of anyone I know." — "Viņai ir visvairāk draugu no visiem, ko es pazīstu."
Biežākās kļūdas un kā tās izvairīties
- Kļūda: "more happier", "most fastest" — tas ir nepareizi.
- Pareizi: "happier" (ne "more happier"); "fastest" (ne "most fastest").
- Kļūda: "more better", "most worse" — nepareizi.

- beidzas ar -er, -ow, -le → vairumā gadījumu -er/-est (narrow → narrower).
- citi divzilbju vārdi → bieži drošāk lietot "more/most" (pleasant → more pleasant), taču daudzi ir pieņemami arī ar -er/-est.
- Ja nezini — drošāk lietot "more/most".
