What is the Recent Past (Passcent)?

The Recent Past in French (le passrcent) is the construction used to say that something happened just a moment ago. It is formed with the present tense of venir + de + the infinitive of the main verb. Functionally it means English "to have just (done something)" (literally "to come from + infinitive").

When do I use the Recent Past?

Use the recent past when you want to emphasize that an action occurred a very short time ago (seconds, minutes, very recently). It marks immediacy.
